| Thank you for your interest in the Bluebonnet Children's Center! We are a non-profit organization that houses two (2) agencies that fight to prevent child abuse. Children’s Advocacy Center The CAC was formed in April 2002 by concerned citizens from Medina, Uvalde, and Real Counties. The CAC has two advocacy centers to better serve the community. Our first and original location is in Hondo, Texas, the second location is in Uvalde, Texas. This provides much needed services to abuse victims and their non-offending family members in the Medina, Uvalde, and Real County areas. The CAC also provides courtesy services to other counties including Frio, LaSalle, Dimmit, Zavala, and Val Verde Counties. Law enforcement agencies from the three primary counties as well as the 38th Judicial District Attorney and Child Protective Services have agreed to support and utilize the CAC for child abuse investigations. Without the ongoing support from all of these agencies we could not effectively serve our community. CASA CASA has been serving Medina, Uvalde and Real Counties since 2001. The program serves as Court Appointed Special Advocates for children that are in a foster setting. CASA relies heavily on the support of its volunteer that give their time to make a difference in a child’s life. Cases involving CASA volunteers are usually cases where children have been removed from their guardians care and placed in a foster placement or with relatives. Our volunteers visit with the children, attend court hearings and other meeting involving the welfare of the child. CASA volunteers are extensively trained to make recommendations to the court whether it is in the best interest of the child to return home. |
